New York City, Day 4

Today was a big day for us in NYC...it was our last full day and we had fun activities planned!  We woke up to it SNOWING and we were SO EXCITED!!!  We had hoped this would happen and it did!  We could hardly wait to get outside and play in it!

NYC with snow on it is beautiful!!!
After playing in the snow for a while, we headed to the ice skating rink at Rockefeller Center where we had tickets to ice skate from 10:30am - 12:00pm. We got our skates on and all went out on the rink.  Marlee and Easton took off skating with no fear.  Karsyn was a little nervous and with her being so accident prone, I stayed close by her side and had her hold on to the railing all the way around.  It was hard for her to skate and she fell quite a few times!  She kept a smile on her face and kept trying all the way around but by the time she had done one loop, she threw her hat down and said, "I'm done!  Take theses skates off of me!" LOL!!!  GiGi skated around and then said she would be happy to take Karsyn in and enjoy some hot cocoa and cookies while watching us skate!  Marlee met a new friend named Riley from New Jersey and they skated a long time together.  Riley skated all the time so she was very good at it and gave Marlee lots of good pointers on skating!  I got brave with skating and had fun skating around away from just close to the railing and Easton was like a pro skating everywhere!  We had so much fun and the snow falling down on us as we skated was just the icing on the cake!

Marlee and her new friend, Riley!

Karsyn was over skating at this point!

After skating we all warmed up with yummy hot cocoa and cookies!
We all were hungry for lunch so we went on Trip Advisor and looked up the best pizza places since everyone likes that and we went to the Number 2 place out of 9,000 for pizza.  It was very yummy!

After lunch we walked around in a near by park...along lots of the streets they have these bikes you can rent and then just return at another one of the many locations....I thought about just giving it a try but the snow on them deterred me! LOL!

After walking around a bit, we decided to go to Central Park to play in the snow!  When we arrived at Central Park, we found horses!  It had warmed up a little today and some of the companies were able to bring out their horses just for a few hours this afternoon.  Marlee was so excited and couldn't wait to go for a carriage ride!  The only rides they were offering were short 15 minute rides but that was fine.  We had a beautiful horse named Blaze and a beautiful carriage to sit in.  We had fun on the ride all bundled up looking around Central Park!

they loved the pigeons everywhere too

the famous Plaza Hotel

so excited to be on a carriage ride

So beautiful!

She even got to feed a horse a carrot!  She loved it!
We thought we would play in Central Park in the snow but the kids were so cold from the carriage ride that all agreed to just get in a warm taxi and head back to the hotel to warm up!  Traffic was crazy and it took a while to get back towards the hotel...so long that the girls got a nap on the way back!
Within walking distance of our hotel was The Magnolia Bakery which I wanted to go to so bad so we walked to it before going to our hotel.  We had to wait in a line to get in but the desserts were worth it.  We got some cupcakes, banana pudding and blueberry yum yum and took it back to our hotel room to eat!

After enjoying our yummy goodies in our room, we went down to the lobby area of our hotel and the kids got to talk to two very nice NYC cops.  They asked them lots of questions and they even gave us a NYC police badge!

We then headed back out and went to the NBC store which was close by where the kids had fun looking at cool stuff from all the NBC shows...their favorite was the chair from The Voice!

Next, it was time for dinner!
Close by our hotel was a yummy restaurant, Bill's Bar & Burger and we decided to have dinner there tonight.  It was delicious!
After dinner, we wanted to do a little souvenir shopping so we took a taxi to Times Square in hopes of getting some fun souvenirs to bring home tomorrow!  Times Square was CRAZY though...they were really getting ready for the ball drop at this point and it was a mad house.  We walked three blocks, took some pictures right by where the ball will drop and by the stages, went in one store and got out of there!  Everyone was so nice but it was just scary busy and with three small children we just knew it was best to not stay and fight the crowds!  It was neat to see though and to know that we would be watching on TV tomorrow night exactly where we were standing tonight!

Right there at the top is where the ball will drop!
A busy day but a great day!  We are sad to be leaving tomorrow.  We love NYC and have made so many memories that we will forever cherish!!!
