Day 1 of our Girls Getaway Trip to Maine
We had an early flight and Daddy was so sweet to drive us to the airport.
When we arrived at the airport the weather was really bad and the airport had to close down due to bad lightning for about fifteen minutes. We walked around and played to pass the time.
Time to take off...Maine here we come!!!
Wonderful flight...Mar slept the entire two hour and 56 minute flight. Getting up at 5:30 am, wore her out. Nice job Mr. Pilot! Thanks for getting us to Maine safely.
Having a little play time while waiting to pick up all of our luggage!
We landed in Manchester, New Hampshire and had to drive about an hour to our first stop. We loved our rental car and so did Marlee! She got another nap in the car while we were driving!
Time for our first lobster roll!!! Bob's Clam Hut in Kittery, Maine was recently filmed on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. It was delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed tasting my first lobster roll, fried clam bellies, and lobster stew. Marlee enjoyed the french fries and homemade blackberry ice cream!
We did a little shopping at the outlets in Kittery and Marlee enjoyed riding the little carousel and in the little car with Cat in the Hat.
We then drove about thirty minutes to Kennebunkport, Maine. We arrived at our home for the night...Cape Arundel Inn. It was very nice and oh so close to Walker's Point, the Bush's Summer Home. We had a wonderful view of it from our balcony. The Bush family was there, so we were on the look out for them!
After freshening up, we headed into town to do some shopping. It was much cooler in Maine than it was in Florida. I put some leggings on Marlee and she kept looking at them like what are these things on my legs. It was evening time and a lot of the shops were closed but we did find one great shop and we had a blast shopping in there. They had a wonderful kid area and Marlee had a blast trying on shoes, sunglasses, jewelry, etc... She even loved the sweet girl working in the store and let her hold her and play with her while GiGi and I were shopping in the store. GiGi bought Mar her first pair of Sperry boat shoes and she loved them so much that once she put them on she did not want to take them off.
We had dinner at Arundel Wharf Restaurant this evening. Marlee sat in a regular chair and was so proud of herself. We enjoyed lobster bisque and a wonderful salad for dinner and blueberry pie with ice cream for dessert. Marlee tasted a little of the lobster bisque and liked it but she loved the blueberry pie a la mode the best!!!
Maine is marvelous so far and we are excited to see what Day 2 has in store for us!
