Marlee did not have school today in honor of Columbus Day! Yay! I was so excited to teach my sweet girl about this important man and complete a few fun projects with her. She was excited too! We watched a Brain Pop Jr. video to explain Columbus and then she painted a picture showing the water and sunset because Columbus sailed for many days and nights and then she painted the three brown boats and made the sails to the boats. We discussed that in 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue! The next project, we cut out the round Earth, tore blue paper to make the water, yellow paper to make the sun, colored the three ships and made the sails as well. She loved gluing everything on with her new neon colored glue sticks. Each year she will learn a little bit more about Columbus but for this year, she knows, he sailed the ocean blue, with 3 ships, and was an explorer! :)
